On January 12, 2010 a devastating earthquake shook Haiti and killed over 300000 people. As US correspondent for Deutsche Welle TV, I immediately tried to make my way into Port au Prince. On the way, I joined forces with colleagues from Germany’s FAZ and dpa. We were some of the first foreign reporters arriving in Port au Prince, facing one of the worst tragedies any of us had ever witnessed.
Together we travelled to Leogane, where the epicenter was located.

Haiti: The struggle for clean water
An article I published in the Atlantic Times gives additional descriptions of the events.
The pictures below were taken with a pocket sized digital camera, documenting some of the images that were not suited for television as well as our struggle to report from a location without an intact infrastructure.
Some of these images are of very graphic content.
